The ITT was originally developed as a rapid-deployment vehicle for Stormtroopers. Several Stormtrooper units, particularly those assigned to garrisons on more developed worlds, have been restructured to take advantage of the vehicle. Retaining the basic eight-man squad, two have been designated as vehicle crew. The remaining six Troopers function as the squad's maneuver element once dismounted from the vehicle. A light-weight weapon emplacement sits in a turret roughly in the middle of the vehicle's dorsal surface, just ahead of a sensor mast. At the rear of the vehicle is a compartment designed to transport mission-specific gear or, if necessary, a single human-sized prisoner.
Rumors are surfacing of late concerning ITT's being deployed with heavier weapons systems than the twin-mount on standard models.
