The Lee Main Battle Tank design is the result of efforts to produce a "high-survivability" tank. The high-tech metal/plastic laminate armor is sheathed in the best warhead-defeating reactive armor and heavily sloped for maximum protection. Its main armament is a massive 140mm main gun loaded with a wide range of ammunition. Opponents point to the Lee's lack of a bristling arsenal and declare it to be "undergunned" for the modern battlefield. Supporters in turn point to the vehicle's armor and historical armor doctrine of never sending tanks into battle without the support of smaller units such as infantry and light armor. With a base per-unit cost of under $3,000,000, the Lee is certainly a viable AFV for organizations that feel the need for a large gun and the desire to protect their investments.
