First Peek
Mood:  energetic
Topic: Laying the foundation

So my gaming group is interested in playing a campaign that is something like "Supernatural" meets "Charmed" - but without the campy screwiness of "Charmed."  We'll be using the Modern Path supplement for the Pathfinder RPG as the basis and building from there.  This blog is going to chronicle my thoughts, efforts, and outlook on building the game.  I encourage readers of this blog to chime in with any advice or suggestions that may come to mind.

We want that bizarre, "out of step" feel to things, where the locals encounter something they'd really rather forget.  That world where local tall tales have been built around a kernal of truth.  A world where the shadows reach out to grab you - and a few brave (or foolhardy) souls grab back.

One of the first things I think I should do is define what gaming resources are approved for use in the game.  Given that this is a Pathfinder/Modern Path game, there's a lot to choose from.  Since I'm only one guy with limited resources, this is one of those areas where I am actively solicitating input and suggestions - I have no doubt I'll miss something that would be useful.  Here's the approved list so far:

*PFRPG Core book (required)

*Modern Path book (required)

*PFRPG Advanced Player's Guide options:

- traits

- Witch class

*incantations

- Incantations in Theory and Practice, by Zombie Sky Press

*Arcane Archetypes by SGG

Things I'm considering allowing include:

- Alchemist class from the APG

- Feats of Psionic Might from SGG

- Psionics from Dreamscarred Press

- Modern Magic from Ninja Monkey Press

- Incantations from the Other Side, from Zombie Sky Press

Several products include general feats that will be approved on a case-by-case basis.  In particular, I'm looking at SGG's "Feats of..." line.

Some products that will be involved in the campaign:

- Haunting of Harrowstone by Paizo (this will get its own entry soon)

- #30 Haunts books by Rite Publishing

- The Haunting of Soldragon Academy by Headless Hydra Games

So that's where I'm at right now.  The first adventure will be a modernized Harrowstone, which will soon have its own entry with my thoughts on modernizing it into a world with less magic than the one it was designed for.  If you have any suggestions for material I should consider including - or NOT including! - sound off!
